Looking for a platform for your research publication? Maybe H2O Open Journal is the one. Please read this message by Rita Henderson.

—

It is my pleasure to invite you to submit your latest research to H2Open Journal. H2Open covers all aspects of water research, including fundamental science, application of science and technology and impact of societal and political and economic factors, with multidisciplinary works particularly encouraged. No longer a brand-new journal, 2021 saw all our articles indexed on Scopus, with 20,988 unique users based in 179 different territories and 54,081 page views. We were excited to have more than 110 articles submitted during 2021 resulting in 27 high-quality publications, with an average of 44 days from submission to final decision. Our 5 most read articles during 2021 covered topics from modelling of river migration, to harmful algal blooms, to novel applications of biowaste material.

At the beginning of the year, we were pleased to announce our first Special Issue: Evolutionary Algorithms in Water Resources, led by Prof Nagesh Kumar (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore) and Prof Komaragiri Srinivasa Raju (Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, Hyderabad), which saw 10 papers articles published on optimization, machine learning algorithms, Internet of Things, and remote sensing. Since then, and during 2021, our second Special Issue on Strengthening systems and realising human rights: strategies to progress water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), led by Prof Juliet Willetts (UTS Australia), Dr Mova Al’Afghani (CPRG Indonesia) and Naomi Carrard (UTS Australia) has been underway. This issue aims to bring attention to studies from practitioners and researchers in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs) and we are especially excited to be piloting an associated mentoring program to support those new to publishing.

I encourage you also to take advantage of IWAP’s offer to waive all Article Processing Charges (APC) for manuscripts published in this journal until 2023. Beyond this time, IWAP is partnering with Research4Life and EIFL to grant waivers to authors in eligible countries.

So, on behalf of our Editorial team, I hope this inspires you to submit your research to the H2Open Journal. Please don’t hesitate to contact our Editorial Board with any questions or to provide feedback on how we might improve this journal. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who has been involved in the success our journal has achieved so far, particularly our readers, authors, and reviewers.

Rita Henderson

On behalf of the Editor-In-Chief team at H2Open Journal
