What is holding us – YOU – back to take action?
Piet Dircke (Global Director Climate Adaptation at Arcadis) is involved with Amsterdam International Water Week from our very first conference, back in 2011. This is his call to join AIWW2023 - to all water leaders, experts, scientists, financers and students.

“Dear water colleagues,

We know what our problems are. We know how disastrous the consequences are for us all. We know the technical solutions to solve them. And we know how to fund them.

We know!

Now, what is holding us back to get into action? Why do we do so little? I think we don’t feel responsible enough to really do something. Since we can’t wait any longer, climate change IS real, I’d herewith like to make an appeal to you: as a leader, please set the standard to take your responsibility and accelerate the action in these times of water in transition.

Welcome back: Prof. Dr. Christoph Donner, CEO of Berliner Wasserbetriebe.
“It has been a few years since I’ve been part of AIWW as a PhD,” Donner says. “Over the last years, I have been involved in many water challenges and that has resulted in a good understanding of many processes. On a daily basis, this helps me to get the best output.

During AIWW2023, I’d love to listen to the challenging tasks of other companies and people. What are their priorities, what are their solutions, how can we improve? How can we accelerate the evolution in water?

There are so many challenges, and I am keen to share my AND use other people’s water intelligence. Let us team up, let us be open, let us have a look from all perspectives and let us be open to discuss solutions for a better environment. Collaboration offers us a big opportunity.

Where would the Integrated Leaders Forum at Amsterdam International Water Week be without an inspirational host? This year, we have been so lucky to recruit Jessie-Lynn van Egmond for the role. Being a future water leader and an engineer-on-a-mission, we can’t think of a better candidate for AIWW2023.
AIWW2023 flagship event: Integrated Leaders Forum
Amsterdam Internatonal Water Week 2023 kicks off 6 November with our flagship event, the Integrated Leaders Forum (ILF), at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. The ILF is an exclusive gathering for top-level executives, accessible by invitation only. It brings together approximately 125 influential utility, city and industry leaders from the global water sector for a high-level discussion focused on bridging the gap between today's challenges and future needs.

ILF is invitation-only. If you are interested and have obvious reasons to qualify for access, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Please be aware for the ILF T&s & C’s apply, amongst which an entrance fee to cover our organization costs.
