Thursday November 4th, leaders from Industries, Cities and Utilities finished and signed the AIWW2021 Statement at the Integrated Leaders Forum of the Amsterdam International Water Week (AIWW2021). Special Envoy for International Water Affairs Henk Ovink will hand over the statement at the COP26, UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).
The statement (short version):
“Bringing water to the forefront to accelerate action”Green deals across the globe require ‘Water’ to interconnect sectors, actions, actors and Sustainable Development Goals. The addition of ‘Blue’ in the green deals and programs can inter-connect regions, basins, sectors, communities, practices and policies. The integration will accelerate actions and facilitate a transition towards sustainable, resilient and adaptive pathways to build back better. With continuous innovation, data-driven tools, stewardship and inclusion; together we can transform the state of water challenges and initiate a shift towards a solutions-driven paradigm. We need to invest in solutions with resources and collaborative actions and find a common language using water as a catalyst, learn from challenges, disasters, pandemics, climate exacerbated changes and accelerate our ambitions with integrated water solutions. Amidst the calls to Build Back better, let’s build back Blue-er.
Integrating water is the thread connecting humanity and the environment.
Special Envoy for International Water Affairs Henk Ovink received the signed statement in a bottle during the AIWW2021 Integrated Leaders Forum. He will hand over the statement to COP26 in Glasgow.
