On October 1st we organized the AIWW Focus Event, our first online event on the road to the conference of 2021. The AIWW Focus Event brought together the core community of the AIWW, to share and discuss the key themes for our main event AIWW 2021. We’re now looking back on a successful event, a celebration of our common goals and ideas for what the future could hold in terms of water and gathered valuable input from our core members. Our enthusiastic hosts Ikenna Azuike and Li An Phoa did a wonderful job of bringing everyone to the table, whether it was live or through the screen.
Impression
On the programme we invited guest speakers, both live and online, to share stories and insights from their perspective. For instance, stories on wastewater monitoring as an early warning system for pandemics and the mobilization for youth engagement in water. We also had the pleasure of welcoming representatives behind three of the Amsterdam Agreements. RESILIO with their blue-green rooftops, Pamela Elardo and Denis Penouel for the Utility Agreement and Li An Phoa with her new agreement, Mayors for Drinkable Rivers. It was inspiring to hear what they have accomplished and how we can contribute for meaningful change. In conclusion, we lively discussed the themes for AIWW 2021 and five panellists shared their key takes from these conversations.
On the horizon
The overall event was successful in its goal of bringing people together and sharing their ideas on what we should have on our horizon: for AIWW 2021 as well as the years to come. We are now working hard on processing feedback and improving the course for next year’s event. We would like to thank everyone for helping us and for sharing their visions for the future. Keep an eye on our News section to read the outcomes of the AIWW Focus Event in more detail.
Save the date
Please note: AIWW 2021 will take place on 1-3 November 2021 and running up to the event we will organize several online webinars to further develop the ideas for the conference. So stay tuned!
